Starlight Children’s Foundation is on a mission to improve the quality of life and health of kids and families around the world. Currently, they work with over 600 hospitals, specialty clinics and camps, respite houses and hospices in the United States and Puerto Rico that collectively support more than 27 million pediatric visits every year in 11 countries and territories.
When Amy joined the Global Impact & Philanthropy team at Starlight Children’s Foundation (Starlight), she identified improved donor database management as a key opportunity: strengthening Starlight’s data management would allow her and the Starlight team to strategically steward donors and nurture their support of and involvement in Starlight’s work.
Starlight leadership understands that “knowledge is power” and prioritizes the collection and analysis of high quality data that allows them to further the organization’s mission. With the support of the other members of Starlight’s senior leadership and her team, Amy began developing a data management and analysis program utilizing Causeview functionality such as:
- Custom objects and fields that allow Starlight to track data that is unique to the pediatric healthcare space
- Actionpages that pull donations made online directly into the database for streamlined processing and acknowledgement
- Reporting functionality that allows Starlight staff to build custom reports to both understand their donors’ interests and offer them tailored communications and opportunities for engagement
- And, most importantly, support from Causeview experts who help Starlight staff to utilize best practices and customizations in the database to their advantage
In the year after implementing Causeview, Starlight was able to streamline their donor data management, allowing them to provide more responsive stewardship to their donors. In that year, the organization saw a 300% increase in contributions from individual donors and a 70% increase in average gift.
